View MoreOn Friday, April 8, 2022, after an almost two-month wait, my dear kitties, Polo and Eljio, finally had their big adventure at Isla Veterinary Clinic. Yes, as much as I didn't really want to do it, today they were spayed and neutered.
While I had already gotten them accustomed to being inside the carrier kennel by leaving it on the living room floor over the past few weeks, this was the first time that I actually closed the door on them. Not only that, but it was also the first time that they have gone outside in about six months. I made them strictly indoor cats when they were about two months old.
Furthermore, today was the first time that they had ever been in a noisy, bumpy bus. I wasn't sure what to expect. Would they totally freak out? With that possibility in mind, I chose to use my larger carrier kennel to take them to the vet clinic.
On the way down on the bus, Eljio took everything with great stride and just laid quietly in the kennel. Polo, on the other hand, softly cried in protest intermittently as she lay next to him. I spoke gently to her for the duration of the bus ride to reassure her that everything was okay.
All in all, they both did quite well with regards to the bus trip.
Once we arrived at Isla Veterinary Clinic, I filled out the required paperwork, and then my dear kitties were weighed. As I suspected, Eljio has passed Polo in weight. He currently weighs 7.6 pounds, while Polo weighs 6.3 pounds. Eljio is 33 weeks and 5 days old, while Polo is 36 weeks and 3 days old. They have different parents, and both of them were born under my bed.
Anyway, this album contains some photos from today's events. I am going to try to post them in chronological order. I hope you can appreciate my sense of humor. :)
Dr. Silk Photo Description:
Just to show you how sweet of a lady Dr. Silk is, consider the following.
After I had dropped off my kitties and gone home, the receptionist, Darlene, called me to inform me that Dr. Silk wanted to bring Polo and Eljio home, so that I didn’t have to struggle on the bus with them and the kennel, which is pretty heavy with both of them inside. Come to think of it, the bus ride home probably wouldn’t have been good for them anyway, considering their surgery.
But isn’t it just wonderful the way that God always works things out to our favor? He never fails me with His goodness! ?
I really wanted to meet Dr. Silk too, and the Lord made it possible. I think what helped is that I told Darlene why I had chosen their clinic, and didn’t even bother calling any of the other local veterinary clinics.
You see, a while back, I read Dr. Silk’s article regarding euthanasia in our local newspaper, the Pacific Daily News, and I sensed her love for animals. So, I knew that she was the one I should go to.
So, Darlene informed her of this, and it touched Dr. Silk’s heart. Thus, she offered to bring home Polo and Eljio, which she in fact did later in the day.
Again, God works in such amazing ways! Like in these two verses:
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Isaiah 55:8-9, KJV
