BEWARE OF EASTERN LIGHTNING A.K.A. THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD They are a very deceptive cult which began in China in 1991. Now based in Queens, New York, they have millions of followers around the world. Their name is based on this verse: "For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." Matthew 24:27, KJV They are convinced that their founder's wife is Jesus Christ returned in the flesh. They refer to her as "Almighty God". Thus, the second name that their organization is known by. But remember what Jesus said: "And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect." Mark 13:21-22, KJV They claim that the Bible is very flawed and try to convince people to stop reading it. They believe Paul and other Apostles invented things and told lies. Sadly, this in fact recently happened to my neighbor, friend and brother in the Lord. It has left me shocked and dumbfounded, because he is an elderly man and a lifelong Christian; yet he has stopped reading the Bible because of their devilish lies. Instead, cult members read volumes of books by their false christ called "The Word Appears in the Flesh". These deceivers quote many Bible verses, but they twist their meaning, exactly as the Apostle Peter warned in these verses: "And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction." 2 Peter 3:15-16, KJV This dangerous cult has 100s of YouTube videos where they spread their false, deceptive teachings. This is in fact how my friend became deceived. In 1992, Yang's revelations propagated by Zhao announced that Yang herself was more than a prophetic voice; in fact, she was the second coming of Jesus Christ on earth and the incarnated Almighty God. Since then, Yang was referred to as "he" rather than "she," as she was in fact regarded as Jesus Christ. Chinese media started taking an interest in the sect, and referred to Yang (sometimes also mentioned as "Deng"), as "the female Christ." ----- End Quote ----- Due to persecution from the Chinese Communist Party, Yang Xiangbin and Zhao Weishan were given asylum in the USA in 2001.
