While the Authorized King James Version of the Holy Bible uses the phrase "Holy Ghost" many dozens of times in the New Testament, it should be noted that the phrase "Holy Spirit" is also used seven times; three times in the Old Testament, and four times in the New Testament. In fact, Jesus Himself used "Holy Spirit" in the Gospel of Luke. Yet at the same time, He also used "Holy Ghost" multiple times, such as in John 20:22 shown below. The truth of the matter us that BOTH phrases are derived from the very same Koine Greek words "hagios pneuma". So in essence, they are interchangeable and synonymous terms. Both are proper. "Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me." Psalm 51:11, KJV "But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, [and] he fought against them. Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, [and] his people, [saying], Where [is] he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where [is] he that put his holy Spirit within him?" Isaiah 63:10-11, KJV "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" Luke 11:13, KJV "In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." Ephesians 1:13-14, KJV "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." Ephesians 4:30, KJV "For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
