These are two photos of the Jupiter-Mars conjunction which occurred about an hour ago here on Guam. I was so busy working in Photoshop on my iMac, that it slipped my mind, and I didn’t get outside until 5:08 AM. By then, the light of dawn was already beginning to creep up into the morning sky. To make matters worse, there were some light clouds passing by as well. As a result, the view of the two planets in conjunction -- Jupiter and Mars -- was a bit hazy. In these two photos, Mars is the fainter object to the right of Jupiter near the top of each photo. How interesting it is to see Venus, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn all in the same region of the sky. You should really look at these on a computer, and not on a cell phone. Even then, both Jupiter and Mars will appear very small.
Please note that being as we on Guam are 14 hours ahead of U.S. East Coast time, those of you in the mainland USA still have an opportunity to see this nighttime wonder.
